It's been great fun to talk "Lost Lingo" with Agatha Christie fans in Florida, but we'll be wrapping up our "southern tour" this week.
While much of the United States has struggled with cold and snow over the last couple of months, we avoided all that by heading to the Florida Keys. Yes, there have been some pretty darn cold days here, too, and our rental does not have any heat, but it's still better than what we left behind, so no complaints!
This is not a vacation, however. We are both still working, and that includes doing presentations about Agatha Annotated. The Monroe County Libraries have been fabulous hosts this month. We have visited all of the libraries in the Keys and met some wonderful people. Our last presentation will be on Friday in Marathon, the key closest to where we are staying. It will be especially fun because we have friends nearby and hope to see them there.
Have we been enjoying huge crowds? Well, no. But everyone who attends is enthusiastic and tells us that they really enjoyed learning weird words, hearing about the research, and listening to quotes from Christie's books. The smaller groups also make it more like a discussion than a lecture, which is fun for all of us.
We provide a good presentation to those who come by, but maybe we need to step up our marketing game to get more people into the libraries. Something we can work on next! Meanwhile, we're moving up the coast soon to visit family, and maybe even mix a little more business in with our pleasure.
